Vietnam: Epidemic killed more than 700,000 cattle and poultry

On 26/12, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said in 2012 in the whole country, the dangerous diseases on livestock and poultry as bird flu, foot and mouth disease, blue ear pig damage heavy livestock.

According to statistics, there were over 3,000 animals with foot and mouth disease; over 650,000 geese, chickens and ducks with avian flu and nearly 91,000 blue-ear pig disease. Which has more than 700,000 cattle and poultry were killed and destroyed.

According to Pham Van Dong, Deputy Director Department of Animal Health, the country has successfully controlled 3 dangerous diseases mentioned above. However, the risk of disease recurrence and spread in the near future is very high. East noted, the local not subjective, neglect, always active disease surveillance, early detection, and control enclosure services giving rise to the new epidemic.
